Good morning, Redwood City,

The Redwood City Police Department has rolled out a strategic plan focused specifically on homelessness and operational efficiency, according to Chief Kristina Bell, who spoke to the city council at a recent meeting. The program includes a new dispatch system coding for better tracking of homelessness-related calls and adding specialized roles to manage increasing call volumes. We'll have more on this story later.

The Redwood City Fire Department is also updating and implementing new policies. It plans to add a two-person squad truck to its fire department early next year. The city said the unit would respond to minor emergencies as part of a strategy to use the city's resources effectively. More on this later.

Thank you to Suzanne Chowla for the photo of the flowers she took on her morning walk. Here's what she had to say about them.

"In the heavy fog and low, diffuse, soft light of my walk this morning, I loved how these white flowers stood out and almost seemed illuminated from within. They almost seemed to be glowing!"  – Suzanne Chowla
