It's official!
After taking the oath of office last week, Diane Papan is the new California State Assembly member in District 21 (pictures here). It was a long, hard-fought battle, but it certainly paid off.
On Friday, recently elected Amy Koo and Sathvik Nori took their oaths of office and now both sit on the Sequoia Union High School District Board. The two were sworn into office before a special meeting of the board. The board meets again today for another special meeting– a closed session. The only item on the agenda is the superintendent's evaluation. This is the second evaluation of Dr. Darnise Williams in less than five months.
In Redwood City, our outgoing mayor and vice mayor are passing the symbolic torches to Jeff Gee and Lissette Espinoza-Garnica at today's council meeting. Meanwhile, civic leaders and community members have organized a protest outside the San Mateo City Hall at 6 p.m. to demand that Lisa Diaz Nash and Robert Newsom follow the City Charter and put an end to whatever it is they're doing.
