Call for art
Got artistic talent? The Redwood City Parks and Arts Foundation is looking for new work to exhibit at the CZI Community Space. Amateur and professional artists from high school to adulthood are encouraged to submit ideas for work that celebrates the diversity of the community. The deadline is Wednesday, Nov. 30 at 6 p.m., so don’t miss out. More info on that here.
If you, like me, prefer to enjoy art than to make it, well, you’re in luck. Redwood City’s annual ART on the Square Holiday Show will be back this Saturday, Nov. 19. More than two dozen artists will be selling their wares under the “spectacular stained glass dome” of the San Mateo County History Museum, as organizer Beth Mostovoy described it. Stop by Courthouse Square from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. to snag some early holiday gifts and support your local artists.
Beat the drought
With the wet season underway, it’s a great time to purchase a rain barrel to collect some extra water over the next few months.
San Mateo County is offering 50-gallon rain barrels for $80 each, with a limit of two barrels per purchase. Redwood City residents can sign up here to buy a rain barrel, which must be picked up between 9 a.m.-12 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 3.
